About

The Main Function of the site  is to  be a source of  ideas and useful information. Currently, the "Crisis Responses" page is a focus, as we look for ways to help set the country on a better path. In our view, the current level of debt at the federal level, among many other things, has set us on a self-destructive path. In dealing with this or any other situation, we're interested in the long-term; realistic ten, twenty and thirty year plans for turning things around. At the same time, there's no time like the present to get started, so have a look at all the pages; there's something for everyone there.

The Site is Run by Matthew J. Fraser. I'm a language teacher, and with my students we look at all aspects of learning, including establishing a good daily routine.   www.ideasforamerica.wordpress.com  Just as my teaching work is all about catharsis  for my students, and exploring all avenues to get better, this site is about useful ideas that can make us better.

2010 State Senate Race This year, I'm running as an Independent for the Massachusetts Second Essex State Senate seat, which includes the communities of Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody and Topsfield. The challenge is to apply some of the ideas here in a useful way for people in the district. The focus of the race will be the mailings, which emphasize some of the opportunities in education, health care and energy. About 1,500 people can expect to receive our mailing, which is a fusion of  the ideas and goals most suited to responding to the crisis. If elected, the ideas in the mailing are the ones that people can expect me to work on..

Ideas for America 1 is a collection of essays, originally based largely on  the research  of Mass. Inc and Commonwealth Magazine. Beginning in 1998, I began reading and taking notes, which in turn became sentences and paragraphs, and research fused with my experiences teaching middle and high school. The work was first published on August 8, 2005, although since then, the  book has been updated thrice, including in 2010. The latest updates were a direct response to the ongoing economic crisis.

Ideas for America 1  Back Cover Excerpt: "Taken individually, the ideas, proposed goals and action plans contained in Ideas for America 1 are interesting, useful and empowering. But its most profound and expansive use will come with the collective implementation of the ideas, which represents nothing less than a leap forward for the country as a whole."

This site is a learning tool, a fusion of ideas and information. We're always evolving, so please feel free to be a part of it in any way, whether reading the books in our library or having yours put there.

World Peace As is the case with all ideas here, the 50 thoughts are here for you to think about. There are many  ideas on this site, big and small, but we also recognize there's enough material in the collage above for the work of a lifetime.

While promoting ideas in education, manufacturing and health care, to name a few, Ideas for America 1  promotes a world peace platform. Example 1: (of 3) If using military means to deal with a situation would cost us $10 billion, what could we accomplish with using peaceful means? Exploring ideas like this is part of what we do.
